So let me get this straight....
Rosemary Lehmberg - who oversees the Travis County public INTERGRITY office - gets drunk (3x over the legal limit), drives around, gets caught, goes to jail, acts a damn fool at the jail, causes some really g...ood officers some very big grief (not to mention she could have killed someone in her stupor), gets off super easy, and keeps her public office, despite repeated calls for her resignation.
Along with most other Texans who followed Lehmberg's disgraceful "Don't you know who I am?" tour of the Travis County Turn-Sty - I mean, Jail - Gov. Perry wanted her to step down from the office, which would be tarnished by her transgressions. After all, it's not the Public Drunkard office... It's the Public INTEGRITY office. She obstinately refused and spent the next 3-4 weeks sleeping it off in her cell while law-abiding citizens across the state foamed at the mouth.
Under the circumstances, Perry made a bold promise and he delivered on it (see definition: integrity). He disallowed the state of Texas from providing additional funding for the Public Integrity office - to the tune of $7.5 million - while Lehmberg was running the place. He performed this veto, using his vested power as Governor, at the exact same time he vetoed a bunch of other tax-payer funded garbage that made its way through the Texas Congress - OVER A YEAR AGO!
So this is NOT new news. It's just convenient news. They've been building a case against Perry for over a year - and in a big push today the Democrats called for his resignation after they announced the indictment. WOW - it just-so-happens to surface when Perry is gaining momentum in popularity on securing the border and bringing jobs to Texas. You know - it's not like there isn't LOTS OF OTHER BIG IMPORTANT SHIT HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!
Love him or hate him, the timing of all this is interesting. Ok, it's outright BS, let's call the duck a duck, shall we? This is an AGENDA.
Well... we all have those, don't we?
I'd be willing to bet that Lehmberg had a habit of targeting conservative groups across the state for her office's investigations... hmmm. Let's dig there a bit and see what we find, shall we?
Some say Perry deliberately cut the additional funding to Lehmberg's Integrity Office because, out of the hundreds of cases it was investigating, one involved the possible misuse of grant money for the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute - the board members of which, Perry appoints... (ooo, how dastardly - perhaps a dart board is a better methodology?) And some of those appointees and investors even donate money to... Republican campaigns (gasp - the evil)!!! Regardless, I don't think that investigation is why Perry said "no" to more funds for Lehmberg's office. I think he summed it up when he said:
[he could not] “in good conscience support continued state funding for an office with statewide jurisdiction at a time when the person charged with the ultimate responsibility of that unit has lost the public’s confidence.”
I don't always agree with Perry - but this makes sense to me. And I think that the laughably transparent agenda on the left can be wrapped up in the following irony:
The Texas Democratic Party called the situation "unbecoming" of a Texas governor. They have called for his resignation.
"Governor Rick Perry has brought dishonor to his office, his family and the state of Texas. Texans deserve to have leaders that stand up for what is right and work to help families across Texas," - Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa.
hmmm... Would Hinojosa also have the same preaching towards Lehmberg? I doubt it... it doesn't fit the narrative.
