When the editors contacted me about the idea, I was happy to help - it sounded like fun! But as the day of the photo shoot approached, I admit I was so nervous I nearly backed out... and it didn't help much that I started getting flu-like symptoms the morning I was supposed to meet up with them. Yikes. But I had committed, and I'm not one to disappoint, if I can help it. Besides, but you only live once, right? So I threw caution to the wind and put on a 'go with it!' attitude.
I met them at a downtown bar that had a film noir décor (The Blackheart); they did my hair and make up, put me in some amazing clothes, and then presented me with a HUGE fox fur coat that was big enough to fit a very large man! It was hilarious trying to pose with that thing on -- I felt like I was being eaten up by it. They squished it around me, pulled and tugged at it... I tried to keep a straight face as the thick coat, like liquid fur, moved around me on its own.
Regardless, the photos came out fabulous -
big kudos to the photographer, Dustin Meyer (<-- Check him out!) -- and I'm glad the Sure Shots editors liked them! I was beyond honored to be a part of such a great issue.
